Prize scam Reports & Reviews (22)

I was contacted by a random number on 8/31/2022 saying to contact a different number, in which I would receive $50,000 if I paid them $200 for postage. Sometimes when I get bored I like to waste scammers’ time, so I went ahead and texted the given number ((720) 334-8041) on a false number. Basically, they asked me for my full name, address, age, gender, etc etc. I gave them a completely made up name and address, to which they fell for, and said I was “eligible” for their prize. They then mentioned that I had to pay the $200 via Apple Pay, Paypal, Bitcoin, gift cards, etc. and I told them I would pay in paypal. They gave me the email attached to their Paypal account (which unfortunately I no longer have as I deleted the conversation). After a few minutes I told them I paid, in which I didn’t, so they let me know that I didn’t actually pay. And then continued to harass me and spam my phone asking for screenshots. I responded a little later with some unnerving images from Google and then cryptic messages exposing them as a scammer and telling them that they’re pathetic and mean nothing in the eyes of the world, yadayada. In which they responded with a picture of their anus. I am a minor, and if i’m correct it’s not the most legal thing to send unsolicited images to a minor. They continued to send the image over and over after I told them to stop, and the only way I could stop it was to block the number. Before I blocked them, they started sending threats to me such as “Your family will die in pain” “I will find you” “I’m going to kill you” and so on. The last thing I said was simply “You’re disgusting”, to which they responded with something along the lines of my future children not being successful. I wish someone told that to their parents before they were born as they would be correct. I would be awfully ashamed of my children if they grew up to be online scammers. After that, I blocked the number, as one should do. I hope whoever is running this company is found someday and the person who sent me those disgusting pictures will be able to show their fellow inmates what they had to show a poor poor teenager at 3 am. One last thing, here was the initial text I was sent:

“Dear winner, your number was selected randomly from different phone carriers for the cash prize of $50,000. You don’t have to be skeptical or confuse about this.It is programmed by the (FDA) FEDERAL DOMESTIC ASSISTANCE, For you to claim your $50,000 kindly text/message Mr.Ronald Schwartz on this number (720) 334-8041, Congratulations to you.

NOTE:YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO ACTIVATE YOUR WINNINGS ACCOUNT WITH A CERTAIN FEE”

(Also, I’m very sorry but I do not feel comfortable giving my personal information in this document as I would rather stay anonymous. Thank you.)

received a call saying that I won a large sum of money and a Mercedes Benz. It was called a Second Chance Lottery. I was told not to tell anyone and that way I could surprise my family. I was told to go to Western Union and pay $160. I did so. When I told my family, we went right back to Western Union and they refunded my money. So I lost money, but it was returned.
