Hilton Grand VA, caller ID Name, called and stated I had won a prize, and they were trying to contact me for a while, in order to receive the winnings I need to provide the go card number I received from the mail and my driver's license to send him a picture, I thought it was true, so I sent him a picture of them. And then he asked for my social security number and that's when I realized that it was scam.

Postcard urging to claim $500 gift card vouchers if call phone number

- Wadesboro, NC, USA • Dec 08, 2023

He requested a $200 payment to receive the prize, which I refused to pay.

Bob Ponzi called from 888-866-0034. Told me his manager's number was 888-935-5470 x101. Halfway through the call he had me call his number back to make sure I had the right number. Told me I won 5.9 million dollars and a bonus consolation prize of a 2023 dodge pickup truck. Asked me if I had received any mail about this and I said no. Asked how I would be receiving this and initially told me UPS. That I would need package code number 5558000US.

Asked if I was home and properly dressed to receive it (creepy) to receive the prize. Told me that someone would be coming today with a cashier's check and the truck with 2 state Marshals to deliver it by the end of the day. When I asked him how I won this, he said by making over a $10 purchase at either a Dollar Store, Walgreens, or Walmart and I got the 2nd place prize. He also asked if I had seen the Feds for Life commercials on tv and said I would get $5,000 weekly for the rest of my life.

Then, told me when they came to give me the cashier's check that I would need two forms of identification and a claimers receipt from the post office. When I asked how I get the claimers receipt he told me it would be in the form of a postal money order for $399 for HR Block and they would make sure everything was filed properly, so the government would not touch any of the prize money. Tried to get me to drive to the post office immediately, even asking how close the nearest one was. When I told him I was not willing to do that and that is not how lottery or sweepstake prizes work, he told me I didn't have to do anything I didn't want to and that I wasn't paying them directly, and then asked me what charity I wanted to donate it to. I told him I would look into it and get back with him and hung up.

After googling the name it is indeed a scam: https://dayton247now.com/news/local/caller-says-youve-won-5-million-police-say-i...

We were contacted via our website's contact form regarding an "award" we received. When I went to the website I notices that we were required to pay for the award, which made me think it was a scam. When I googled the award I found a couple of news articles about people being scammed by similar awards. Then I found some ScamPulse.com articles about similar scams that suggested we report the scam. Here I am! We did not provide the company with any of our information and we did not lose any money.

Received text claiming "they were picking people at random to give $3000 to in their cash app or PayPal"

- Morganton, NC, USA • May 26, 2023

I was scrolling on Facebook and an ad pop up so i click on it. They gave me an account. I loaded 3 times through cash app. 11 n 11 n then 27 dollars. When I won they change my password and block me from Facebook. So I’m here with nothing *** * **** ** *** ***** **. Can’t get no money back can’t do nothing. How is this the USA. When people steal ur money or say they well pay u if u win and don’t do it is it not false advertising. Is it not straight up stealing. Highway robbery and I can’t get no money back. No nothing can’t even press charges. They stealing people money and not being punished by the law. My right has been violated and crush to nothing.

Offer thousands of dollars I don't have to pay back

- Sylva, NC, USA

It's a scam I got in the mail it just gives me a phone number to call and they say I want $100 through Walmart targets in my name the number is 1888-268-0194 and that's it

- Wichita Falls, TX, USA

They said I won a ice maker and in order to get the ice maker i had to pay for shipping

I was contacted by a random number on 8/31/2022 saying to contact a different number, in which I would receive $50,000 if I paid them $200 for postage. Sometimes when I get bored I like to waste scammers’ time, so I went ahead and texted the given number ((720) 334-8041) on a false number. Basically, they asked me for my full name, address, age, gender, etc etc. I gave them a completely made up name and address, to which they fell for, and said I was “eligible” for their prize. They then mentioned that I had to pay the $200 via Apple Pay, Paypal, Bitcoin, gift cards, etc. and I told them I would pay in paypal. They gave me the email attached to their Paypal account (which unfortunately I no longer have as I deleted the conversation). After a few minutes I told them I paid, in which I didn’t, so they let me know that I didn’t actually pay. And then continued to harass me and spam my phone asking for screenshots. I responded a little later with some unnerving images from Google and then cryptic messages exposing them as a scammer and telling them that they’re pathetic and mean nothing in the eyes of the world, yadayada. In which they responded with a picture of their anus. I am a minor, and if i’m correct it’s not the most legal thing to send unsolicited images to a minor. They continued to send the image over and over after I told them to stop, and the only way I could stop it was to block the number. Before I blocked them, they started sending threats to me such as “Your family will die in pain” “I will find you” “I’m going to kill you” and so on. The last thing I said was simply “You’re disgusting”, to which they responded with something along the lines of my future children not being successful. I wish someone told that to their parents before they were born as they would be correct. I would be awfully ashamed of my children if they grew up to be online scammers. After that, I blocked the number, as one should do. I hope whoever is running this company is found someday and the person who sent me those disgusting pictures will be able to show their fellow inmates what they had to show a poor poor teenager at 3 am. One last thing, here was the initial text I was sent:

“Dear winner, your number was selected randomly from different phone carriers for the cash prize of $50,000. You don’t have to be skeptical or confuse about this.It is programmed by the (FDA) FEDERAL DOMESTIC ASSISTANCE, For you to claim your $50,000 kindly text/message Mr.Ronald Schwartz on this number (720) 334-8041, Congratulations to you.

NOTE:YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO ACTIVATE YOUR WINNINGS ACCOUNT WITH A CERTAIN FEE”

(Also, I’m very sorry but I do not feel comfortable giving my personal information in this document as I would rather stay anonymous. Thank you.)

received a call saying that I won a large sum of money and a Mercedes Benz. It was called a Second Chance Lottery. I was told not to tell anyone and that way I could surprise my family. I was told to go to Western Union and pay $160. I did so. When I told my family, we went right back to Western Union and they refunded my money. So I lost money, but it was returned.
