So I’m working with the breeder they sent me a link to a tracking website for my dog being shipped to me through a company. I received a text message from a person saying they were going to be delivering my puppy. They claimed I needed to get a specific crate so I rented it out. They said they needed a city permit for $1,000. They then said I needed to insure the puppy so they wouldn’t get sick and if they did it would cover the puppy’s vet visit. Then they said they need insurance coverage in the amount of $500. I’m thinking okay the puppy is coming from Vegas okay I understand all this. They said all of it would be refunded.
So I explained to them I don’t have the direct cash but they said they accept American Express gift cards. I figure okay that’s strange but fine. So I sent them the money they needed. For your Information I have not signed any paperwork claiming the puppy is mine. They said all that paperwork will be signed when the puppy is delivered. I informed them after sending them the final amount that I will not send any more the person I have been speaking with via text (then finally a phone call) Mike Renault said on 3 different occasions he wouldn’t ask for more money and my puppy will be delivered. My pup was supposed to be delivered on 8/1. Yesterday 8/3 this Mike gentleman claimed my puppy was sick and he needed $600 for vet visit and other things.
I told him I am not sending any more money until I get a picture of my pup, and he tell me how my pup is sick. He said “now is not the time for questions and answers so just send the money and we can deliver the puppy. This morning he reached out via phone call and said just give me the $600 and your pup will be delivered. It’s only 2 hours away. I said what city is the pup in he said Vegas and I said Vegas (even with flying) is not 2 hours away. He proceeded to say he will text me all details about my pup. He couldn’t answer any questions over the phone. He said he was going to report me to the cops for dog abandonment and threatened me with a $1,000 fine and jail time. Although I have paid for the puppy I haven’t not signed anything officially signing the puppy’s rights over to me so technically I am not an owner. I told him I am not sending anymore money until I speak to the breeder.
I am ready to take this to The Federal Trade Commission if I have to. Below are quick screen shots/more info on the breeder and people who claim they are delivering my dog.
