I received a call from an agent at Blu Star Review indicating that they would be performing a fee and account audit for the company's 405k plan. When I began asking questions I was informed that this was a review/audit that was done every 24 months. As an accountant, I am familiar with reviews and audits so it made sense that our retirement plan holder would hire an independent third part to complete a review. I then asked if our plan representative would need to be present and was informed that he "could not be present because this would be a review of his fees"

I notified the owner of the company who did not recall every, in over 50 years of ever having an audit of our plan. After a few phone calls to the previous accountant as well as our plan representative, it was determined that this was a scam and Blu Star would come in as auditors and then try to get us to move our plan to them.

We have attempted to cancel the appointment set, however we have not been successful in contacting anyone from the company information provided (or through email)
