I called GEICO to start a policy for my new car I just purchased and looked up GEICO and the website came up and phone number of 1 (888) 982-3326, they took all my information and started my policy and I paid to start my policy, a week later I received a letter in the mail that my payment didnt go thru so I contacted GEICO again at a different number and they said this was fraud .. I look on my bank account and the transaction was done by a place named VISTA ADVENTURE HUB.. I have reported this to my bank and to GEICO

Description of Incident:

I called what I believed was GEICO Insurance at 1-888-661-6301 to update my vehicle information. The representative asked for my username, policy number, birthdate, and the cell phone number on file. They then claimed they would send a one-time password to my phone and requested that I provide that code. After giving them the code, they changed my account login password and locked me out of my account.

Shortly afterward, they stated that my six-month premium would be $3,600, but if I made a payment of half that amount immediately, they would cut the premium cost in half. Fortunately, I realized something was wrong before providing any payment information. This was a clear attempt at to defraud me of my money Please stay aware and be vigilant of the scammers!

I googled the geico motor insurance phone number and the number and website popped up first with the 1-888 number. While on the phone with the representative they sent me a pin to confirm my idenity and used that pin number to reset the password on my geico account. They also charged my credit card with the correct amount for my next billing statement. I received an email from geico stating my password was reset and that is when i realized it was a scam. I was able to lock my credit card but not before they processed a payment for $127. I reached out to geico to reset my account and change the password as well as my credit card company to cancel that credit card and get a replacement.
