Litigation to purse the credit card debt on behalf of Citibank

I got a call from 833-764-1290. They tried telling me that I owed money to Citibank from back in 2012. When I asked what the card was about they said oh it must have been a store credit card. I've never had a store credit card through Citibank. I am trying to get them reported to the Better Business Bureau and get back the $250 they took out of my checking account this morning.

Caller claimed civil judgement against us for defaulting on a 2017 HBSC./Capital One Credit Card bill. Very convincing presentation to settle default. Only after "settling" for $1,421.18 through a different credit card did we realize the "red Flags". "Melissa Monroe, Senior paralegal" sounded professional complete with a "Case # and all the answers seemed appropriate to our questions. "Melissa" emailed a Docu-Sign document from "Pearson Knight and Associates" which we did not sign after realizing this to be a scam. After 7 years we did not remember even having a Credit Card with HBSC/Capital One.

Michael Haas left me a message that he was going to serve me some court documents. I called the number 8 3 3- 5 8 7- 8 9 9 3. Julia answered the phone. She said Best Buy had a judgment against me. Gave me my address, phone, name, and last 4 of my social. Said I opened the card sept 13 of 2015 and I made payments on it until June 17 of 2020 and that the judgment would be for $10,000 plus court and attorney fees. But I could pay before I got served and that it would be a small settlement. I kept her on the phone wasting her time. She hung up and I called her back. I have never had a Best Buy card and I check my credit daily. I googled the “law firm” and the 1st thing that pops up is scams. At once point I asked to speak to her supervisor and she said they didn’t have any. She wanted to get me to the “attorney” handling my case but she was on the other line. Lots of red flags but I’m sure they get a lot of people. Google will help you! I’m also reporting them everywhere I can.

Received a voicemail first from a Sam Rockwell stating he was going to serve me at home or work unless I called this phone number 833-642-5297 so I called and spoke with someone named Julia. She was telling me there is pending legal action against me for an old credit account. She was trying to rush me to make a payment or make payment arrangements. When I couldn’t commit a payment she became very nasty. I tried explain I never even received paperwork or any previous calls until now and they were too quick to take this legal action against me if I didn’t give them payment that very same day. Sounded to fishy so I told her to take me to court then. These people deserve to rot in hell. Horrible scammers.

Received a call stating they were with a law firm attempting to collect a debt. They provided original debtor as well as identifying information of the account holder. Said they sent a letter in September that was never received. they stated this was last attempt to collect before filing charges in our county
