Got a call today from "ontario warranty association" number was 15198005621 claiming i have a credit she knew my name and address... hung up before she could continue... unreal at what extent these people will go. Very scary

ditto above. the website info she gave does not exist. I asked for a cheque to receive my "credit" but she (Catherine Carson) wanted banking information which I refused to give. I don't have call display so no way of tracing this. She knew my first and last name from the start as well as address & postal code.
As I am retired from financial services industry I did not fall for this scam.
From the way she spoke, I do not believe English is her first language.

I received a phone call from 1-416-800-0675 this morning and to be honest, her presentation was almost perfect...until she requested banking info to deposit my $88.00. Very slick. Have your address, postal code, even a reference number! If I was an older person, I could have been easily duped into giving out chequing information. You can even call back the number and they call themselves the Home Protection Group, but of course when you Google them, they don't come up. Interestingly enough, she claimed they were located on Dufferin St. in North York...there is a company called Ontario Home Protection that is located on Dufferin, but according to the BBB, they have a number of complaints against them for soliciting under false pretense...so could these 2 "companies" be in bed together? Don't know...but a heads up to you and to anyone you might consider vulnerable to this type of scam.

A woman called today claiming she was calling on behalf of Ontario Warranty Services on behalf of a government program to insure any appliance in our house, gas or electric, so I could have them repaired at no cost.
She said the program was province wide and asked if I had received the $88 carbon credit all Ontario home owners qualified for that had been on the news. Implying that there was a connection between the two programs.
Her presentation sounded plausible, albeit maybe too good to be true, until she asked for my banking information so she could ensure the $88 would be directly deposited to my account.
When I balked at providing bank info she said I give it to anyone I give a cheque to. I replied that I know who I am giving a cheque to but don't know her company or agency so I would check them out on line and get back to her.
At that point she said "So you are giving me permission to mark a pass on your home" I said yes and hung up.
A simple search showed that if I had continued I would have been signing up for a $59 per month maintenance program.

I'm not sure if it's a scam but it sounded too good to be true. A "Lisa Logan" called to offer full appliance service and repair with no additional fees or replacement part costs for 15 days. As well, she wanted my banking account number to deposit a credit of $88.05 which she said all Ontario home owners qualified for. She gave me a reference number and said a package would be arriving within 7-10 business days. After 15 days I could cancel. Otherwise, I will be charged $59.99 monthly for this unlimited service.

I can't find this business listed on the ScamPulse.com site so I can't determine whether or not it's a scam.
