Scammer was a potential buyer of an excavator we were selling. Deposited funds in our account for $118K and insisted on picking up the excavator immediately. Would not confirm source of funds for deposits (bank draft/personal or business cheque/cash etc.) therefore we were advised by our bank to wait until funds cleared. Bank advisor provided a copy of the deposit which was a business cheque. Both the business on the invoice and his cheque are different incorporated names, both of which are not on any Canadian business registry. When we advised buyer we need to wait for funds to clear since he wasn't willing to provide source of payment, the funds were cancelled and retrieved and it showed as "account closed" in our banking. Never heard from him again
