Contact was made via text message by someone claiming to be a Mrs. Diana Finn from the HR department at OncoC4. Specific language used was "Am I in direct contact with [my name]...?" They told me they had acquired my profile from LinkedIn and were hiring for a small number of remote positions (which is how they acquired my name and phone number). I was then asked to install the Element secure messaging app (which itself doesn't appear to be associated with these guys) and click a verification link that would be sent to my email. DO NOT CLICK THIS LINK. I never received one myself, because my LinkedIn didn't have my email on it, and Element the app won't send you a verification email. On Element, I was then contacted by a Matthew McClain, Ph.D, BA--who is not associated with OncoC4 and doesn't show up on their website--who proceeded to ask me a number of generic interview questions, such as "how would you describe yourself?" and "what are your three biggest successes so far?" These questions are doubtlessly to make the interview seem as realistic as possible. After being told I had been hired for the position, I was asked to provide "Dr. McClain" with the name of my bank, upon which I requested that they send me a contract first... which they refused to do. I then looked up the company on this site and found other reports of the same scam.

So there's that. Moral of the story: always cross-check everything BEFORE consenting to interviews. I got lucky; they had me going all the way until they asked for my bank.

I blocked the contact before we went further than the following, copied and pasted directly from texts:

Hi Madeleine. I just took a look at OncoC4's available positions and I'm afraid I haven't seen any of these on my job search outlets. Can you please send a link to the job posting so that I can assess whether I have the skillset required? Thank you!

This person contacted me by text message -- completely out of the blue. Says she saw my resume on Indeed. Says she is with the HR department and asks if I want to interview for a position? When I asked what position, the person gave a short list of "possible" job vacancies. I said, OK. The interview was to be done by instant messaging. The scammer than asked me to download the Element app. I was to download the app, create an account, verify it, then click on the link that was shared in text message. I...did not click on the scammer link.
