He gave a very helpful 'tech support' person access to his two laptops for about 90 minutes to clear the "viruses" they claim to have found. Fortunately, he didn't pay them anything, but they did want his bank routing number and for him to send them a check for $499.99 to cover the cost of a lifetime warrantee against any viruses, malware, etc. on up to ten of his devices. Absolute scam!
The attached picture includes all of the contact info they had provided to my father. Fortunately, I happened to call to say 'hi' and heard all about the very helpful person that was installing lord-knows-what onto his two laptops. I advised him to shut off the laptops immediately, which he did. The two devices are currently being reimaged and he has changed all of his passwords.
