Scam calls and letters pretending to be Toyota about warranty activation

I have gotten letters and calls both claiming to be Toyota and that I need to activate my vehicle service contract. I bought an extended warranty from the dealer, so before I give information out I called to tell them they should have activated my warranty and they told me that it was a scam to throw it away. But I would like to know how they got not only my name and address but my cellphone number. Toyota, warranty company, or LA DMV?

An auto warranty scam. I've seen the actual company name was something like guardian protection group from digging around online. They did not use their company name in the letter, nor would they give me the company name when I called.
