Edgar Montepeque & Rudy Moratalla Landscape Scammers
It began when a man knocked on our door at home claiming he was working on our neighbor's yard & they had extra mulch to do our front yard too. We told him "No, thank you!", but he was persistent & said he didn't speak English well, so he ran to call the owner, Edgar Montepeque. He gave his a business card & showed us a laminated sheet with the before & after pictures of what our lawn would look like if we used their mulching services.
We still said "No!" but then Edgar begged us saying he needed to pay for his materials & crew, so it would only cost us $12 a bag including labor. I know this is where buyer beware should have kicked in, but we thought we could help out this local business, only to get scammed.
After they were done within 30 minutes, Edgar told us they used 202 bags, so our cost was $2,400. Of course, we were shocked & refused to pay that much as we told them that many bags would have never even fit in the back of their 1 pickup truck & we have a very small front yard, so he went down to $1,800. We told him that was still way too much to pay for mulch services, but that's when the real crime began as the other 3 of his workers got very aggressive, swearing & speaking to each other in Spanish while throwing things in their truck.
Since we felt intimidated & they now knew where we lived, we wrote them a check for $1,800 which they immediately went down to the bank to cash it. After they left, we then Googled Edgar Montepeque only to find out we were not the only hard working homeowners, who were scammed by his landscape company per the links of Edgar & his crew below...

Therefore, we would love for Curtis or someone else to investigate this scam to prevent others from their criminal acts of lies, intimidation, threats & in some cases damage to their properties if you didn't pay their unrealistic, exorbitant rip off prices!
