Scammer has a website offering bichon frise puppies for $700. Describe themselves as kennel registered with the state. No address or phone number on the site. photos of puppies and reviews with photos of happy customers. Describe themselves the "******* family, De Fex ***** and ***** *****", who live on a ranch and raise horses and puppies. Give information about the breed. Contacted them through their form and received e-mail back describing the puppy I inquired about, price $700 plus $200 for shipping. Asked a few questions about me to determine suitability for purchasing a puppy. Got back to me with a choice of payment methods, Zelle, CashApp, Google Pay, etc (no credit card option). Was suspicious. They were pushy when I didn't get back to them right away. He gave me a Zelle payment contact and then emailed with a different Zelle payment contact. I asked for a phone number and they provided it and I talked to a guy, I said are you De Fex *****, he said his name was something else, sounded like Deleon Williams. He didn't have an accent that I could make out. I said are the ***** family the breeders, he said yes. He said something about his wife being in a wheelchair and having a hard time with the puppies. I was very suspicious but I agreed to pay with Zelle and tried the 2nd payment contact but it didn't work. He gave me a 3rd one which he said was "his sister", and that went through. Next day they sent me a "transfer of ownership" form to sign, which was suspicious in a number of ways, including the use of the word barrister, not really in use in the U.S. The breeder's name was given as ***** Deren. Tried googling that name and could not find anyone located in Tucson. Googled the address and it's a real address, a house in Tucson on Zillow but not, I think, a ranch. They called me as I hadn't sent the form back, he said his name was *****, pronounced "Dah-vid." He had an accent. I said there aren't going to be any more charges, right, and he said no. I sent the form back and then I got a call and e-mail from *** *** at "Maritime LIners Logistics" which MAY be a real company headquartered in Brazil, but the phone number was ************ email ***********************. There was a tracking number. Said they would be sending the puppy to my home that day. I said ok and notified seller of this as well. About half an hour later, as I suspected I would, I got a call/email from "shipper" saying I needed to purchase a special crate from $800-1200. I told *** *** this was a scam and he was quite pushy, "listen maam, listen maam, have you checked the weather conditions in Arizona (I did and it was 50 degrees and sunny in Tucson). I said not paying for a crate, this is a scam. Contacted seller and said I knew it was a scam. They said wait we'll get back to you and then confirmed yes you need to buy a crate and then there will be no problem. I suspected there was no actual puppy and if I paid for a crate there would be more requests for money for something else. I asked seller for proof of their kennel registration and photos of mother and the litter together, they just sent a photo of 2 bichon frises and said they were the parents. Another call from shipper asking if we were going to buy a crate, he said he had the puppy there. We told him if he really had a puppy he would have to take it back to the seller. He was loud and pushy. seller contacted me this morning and said shipper is saying they have to pick up the puppy.
