I have received 2 phone calls supposedly from Medicare. I did not answer 1 and no message was left. I did answer the 2nd one. A male with a foreign accent stated he was from Medicare and did I still have a particular medical pain issue. I told him I did not know who he was and would not continue the conversation then I hung up on him.

“Steve calling on behalf of Medicare,”

called our Land line at 9:12 A.M. on July 2, 2018, asking for my husband by name.

When I asked for more information, he gave a smart alek answer. When I said he wasn’t being very nice, he said, “I don’t have to be nice!”

I hung up.

Caller identified himself as being a representative from Medicare and I qualify for free pain cream all I had to do is verify my information on my card. As soon as I read off the information the caller hung up. I tried to call the number back but the number is a fax machine and it try’s to connect.

Phone call saying they were from Medicare, wanting to send me back brace or knee brace. It was a local number to me. I asked them about that & they said it sometimes shows up as local. I asked several times if they were from Medicare, each time they said "yes". They had a lot of my personal information. I told them not to call me again.

Caller claimed to be from Medicare and wanted to send me a back brace free. He asked for birth date and Medicare ID (to "confirm" recipient identity) - he had my name, age, phone #. When asked, he gave his name as "Johnny Black". When asked "Why does Medicare think I need a back brace?", he said it was a new program.

The first call showed as "Private Caller." After he asked for my Medicare ID#, I hung up. He called back (again as "Private Caller"). I didn't answer, but checked the message, which was a second or two of background (call center?) noise. Message playback included the phone number above.

The person claimed to be from Medicare and offering my father a back brace. They asked about the clinic he goes to, the Dr and he gave them the last 4 digits of his social security number. They wanted his Medicare number, but he did not give it to them. This happened today so it is not known if this will impact his finances.

Supposed representative stated that she was with Medicare. She had a very strong Tagolog Philipino accent and my elderly grandmother replied yes to having back pain after the representative asked if she suffered from back pain and said Medicare, at no cost to my grandmother, will send and pay for a back support device.

My dad filled it out sent back a man called him and wanted to come to his house to talk with him in person. Luckily I was there and googled scams. At 1pm today, May 16, 2018, a call came in from someone sounding Hispanic who indicated she was with the National Pain Center. It was hard to understand her. I gave the call to my husband who is a paraplegic and suffers with chronic pain. I walked away and after the phone call I found out the following: She asked him for his name and address, which he provided, and asked if he was receiving Medicare assistance for pain. He said Yes. She identified herself as calling from the National Pain Clinic and that she would like to talk to him about a Medicare provided pain cream. She asked if he had chronic pain. He said Yes. She said they would send some cream for chronic pain relief at no charge and no shipping. It would arrive on Monday (May 21st). She verified his mailing address and then requested his Medicare #. My husband was in bed and told her he didn't have that available. She then asked for his social security number which he gave her, She indicated they could get his Medicare number by using his social security number. The conversation ended. Although we have not been harmed yet, I am reporting this because she got his S.S.# and I fear identity theft. My husband's thought process has been affected by the medications he takes. Under normal circumstances he would know not to give that information over the phone,.
