I received a call from someone saying they were with Medicare and they asked if I had received my new card yet. I told her yes and she asked me to get my card so she could verify the information. Once I had done that and gave them my number, she then asked if I had any allergies. Starting to become suspicious, I did not give her that information. I told her I didn't think she was really with Medicare and she said she was and for me to check my caller ID because that number would match the Medicare number on the back of my card, which it did. She then asked me for my height and weight and that's when I knew it wasn't Medicare. I was a bit suspicious from the beginning of the call because the lady spoke poor English and had an accent with lots of noise in the background.

Medicare Call Scam

A woman who knew all my personal information claiming to be from Medicare. She was offering me free medical supplies. She asked me 3 times for my Social Security Number. She even told me to get my Medicare card out and verify the number on it. When I refused she said she would get back to me at a later date.

That call came up as New Jersey, now I'm getting about 5 calls per day from calls coming from Illinois. If I answer, it is the exact same sounds coming from the background, like a loud muffled call center.

Very persistent telephone calls by two separate individuals -- initial caller, then a "supervisor," attempting to get information from me in order to send out a lower back brace -- supposedly qualified to receive one every five years from Medicare. I assume there is a scam in there somewhere.

Unfortunately he already has all of this information and its correct. Of course I don't verify any of it but its scary that he has it.

I recieved a text intended for my mother. It read:

"Medicare: (Name in all capital letters), This is Your Last Chance to Enroll in Medicare Coverage. Plans for $0/Month are Available in OR. Call 844-458-0571 or text STOP."

Clearly it was not Medicare.

Dave Anderson from Medicare called to offer me a back brace; he verified my doctor's name and i confirmed my birthday and last 4 digits of my SSN. At that moment, I didn't feel right about giving him my information. I realize that it sounds more like a phishing scam.

I have been called 3 times saying it was Medicare, asking many questions including my health insurance number which I did not give. I was suspicious because Medicare and my insurance have all that information so I told him I didn't have my number available. He is suppose to call back this afternoon to get it. He talked to my husband yesterday and said he could get free pain ointment through Medicare for us and just needed my Freedom Health number.
