They are trying to take personal information from people that are trying to unsubscribe from their service. See default email, which says: LocateFamily.com is a FREE service which is intended to bring people together

in a positive manner. It is not intended to inconvenience anyone. With this in

mind, LocateFamily.com will endeavor to respect your desire to have

information removed and will remove a listing if a valid request is made.

Please understand that from our point of view, anyone could have created the

e-mail address "[email protected]". Therefore we really have

no way of confirming that you are the person (CHERYL THELEN) for whom you

would like information removed.

Consequently, in order to ascertain that you are in fact the individual in

question, we require that you provide us with some means of identification.

Identification does not mean official government issued ID, but instead, any

legitimate document that contains a name and address which matches the

information you would like removed. For example a mailing label from junk

mail, a business card, an invoice, etc.

DO NOT SEND GOVERNMENT ISSUED ID. The type of identification we require would

be ANY LEGITIMATE DOCUMENT THAT CAN REASONABLY PROVE YOUR IDENTITY. This could

include a copy of a bill, mailing label, business card, etc.

12 paragraph 6 of the GDPR.)

Please send us a scanned copy or a photograph of the ID to

[email protected]. Make sure to send it from the e-mail address you would

like us to assign to the information in question. Once we have received your

message with the attached ID, we will review it and send you a message

confirming that the information in question will be removed.

Assigning your e-mail address to the information will allow our system to

automatically approve any future removal requests should the information

inadvertently re-appear. An e-mail address may only be used for a single

individual and his/her dependents at a single address. If you have other

circumstances, please let us know so that we may accommodate you

appropriately.

Please understand that these measures have been introduced to prevent abuse,

as we have no other way of confirming an individual's true identity. These

measures have been vetted by our attorneys as a reasonable and lawful means of

establishing identity.

I noticed this site has all my information on it my address & phone number when they are private i never opted to be on this site in fact i followed the directions to be removed with both my email address, i received a no reply email from them requesting my id etc. to confirm its me. i told them i never requested to be on their site nor do i want to, its disgusting how my address where my family lives is being listed on their site for anyone to see & find us, i receive court info in inmates & its too easy for people to find me with sites like these. I will not send them any additional information just so they can use that & add it to their site or share it with anyone else to confirm myself. me going in & click remove, as many other sites do. this should not be an issue. this is a safety concern for myself and my family .

My data has been placed on this site. It is not known from what source. Data after my intervention was deleted. I live in the European Union and apparently my data is protected. This is all bull[censored].
This site has data for over 140,000 people from my country. This site should not exist.

This company refuses to remove my information claiming they don’t like my email address. What does that have anything to do with removing my personal information from your website? I’m sixty seven years old. I use my daughter’s email address all the time. I don’t even have one of my own because I don’t do computers. If their website was any good they would be able to see that in the data. I’m enrolled in the Safe At Home Program so they are legally obligated to do so and still they refuse. They are directly and intentionally putting me at risk by advertising my information like this and refusing to take it down. It’s unethical, not to mention ILLEGAL.

The website LocateFamily will not remove my personal information. I have requested it multiple times through thier opt-out page and through email. They want me to send copies of my drivers license and birth certificate for proof of identity. Why would I give a scam site more personal information? I can't find an owner for this site but they are extorting people and posting personal identity information. They need to be shut down.
