Received a suspicious call from LMS about legal document delivery
Hi, we're trying to reach (first and last name), the file number (6 digit number). This message is for you. Please call us by end of the business day. Thank You. Hello, my name is Rita. I work with LMS and we are subcontracted out through your county . The reason for my call is there was a failed attempt at delivering certified legal documents to your resident. Before the firm proceeds without your consent, This is your final notice in regard to updating a current address or rescheduling this formal complaint notice. This notice gives you 24 hours as a courtesy hold. You can reach the firm directly at 877-692-8335. Please provide the file number that was left at the beginning of the message

Type of a scam:Phishing
Whether this is phishing for identity theft or insurance scam (or both) this arrived by postal mail. My guess is that they feel safer using post than online and that they may not have access to the best database. They are certainly very careful to avoid prosecution based just on this "invitation" but the intent to defraud in some way is clear. They want target's DOB, area code and phone number, SPOUSE'S Name and DOB, and if that weren't enough, please also provide your signature for us. I don't know what the next phase of this game would be but they don't directly ask for money yet, so it's likely about collecting the data. LMS never gives a full business name; they use a POB (very high number); they have no website and no way to directly contact them or to get more information. They also include (pt 9 font) a disclaimer about representing any government agency. Very slick. I don't know if anyone will fall for this (I did not), but I post here just in case.
