I was contacted by someone on Linkedin that they were hiring. So I decided to email them about the position. Fast forward, the interview was held over email and the pay was too good to be true. I have only provided my name and address but nothing too personal. I signed a contract but realized they wanted me to share my bank account information in case of “fraud or theft” on my account. So I decided to email them about it and question if they were legitimate. The lady answered my question but was vague about it.

I received an email from who I though was my boss using his name, but later on in looking if I hovered over his name it wasn't legit. The email was with an attached invoice and also a tax id payer page from LinkedIn asking me for payment as if my boss asked me to pay it via ACH through our bank. I was doing two other legit Ach setting them up and really should have caught this however it was a very distracting day and I got caught up in this money transfer. I set up the Ach on 10/17/2022 and it wasn't set to go through until 10/18/2022. We caught the mistake on the evening of 10/17/2022 around 5pm and called our bank to stop it. Sadly even with them knowing about it the Ach still processed on 10/18/2022.

I was locked out of my LinkedIn account and searched customer service phone number to help unlock the account. I called 800.592.0745 and they asked me to install Team Viewer to my computer and enter code 7890321. They took control of my computer. When I asked them to release control three times they refused. I unplugged my computer and they hung up the phone. I was concerned as they entered a pay pal address when they had control of my computer. I am concerned the number listed online for LinkedIn customer support is fraudulent. I kept asking why they had to control my computer instead of just providing a temporary password to unlock my account. I will be closely monitoring my personal accounts to ensure no fraudulent activity takes place.

My LinkedIn account has been hacked and is now sending emails out to my (500+) contacts asking them to reply to inquire about a make money quick scheme involving Walmart.
