I received a voicemail stating that I would be served papers today regarding a case number, with the callback number of 877-693-0253. The message did not state what the papers were regarding, the name of the business, or the date or time the papers would be served. I called the 877 number, was put on hold, transferred many times, and the man I spoke to eventually told me my actual SSN and stated that I was part of litigation for a debt to a bank I've never had an account with. I asked what the name of his company is and he said Lakewood Associates. When I tried to inquire further, he hung up on me. I called back, was transferred many times again, and ended up with the same man who wouldn't talk to me and then hung up on me a second time. I know for certain I don't have a debt with that bank, I've never had an account with them and I stay on top of all my credit history and scores. I Googled the company name the man gave me, Lakewood Associates, and found a very fake looking website: https://lakewoodprofessionals.com/. I called the number on the website and was sent back into being transferred to the same guy. I know this is fake and I am not worried that there is a real debt, but now I am really freaked out about how they got my full SSN.
