I received a phone call from someone claiming to be the IRS saying that there is a lawsuit against my mother. My mother is deceased.

- Olympia, WA, USA

received phone number on home number at 0734 December 13, 2015. They left a number for me to call, which I did about 5 hours later. The man, with what it sounded like, an India accent, said his name was Gabriel McKenzie and was calling from the IRS. His accent and the loud voices from the background from where he was calling, made it difficult to understand him. Finally, I understood him to say there was a law suit in my name from the IRS saying I miscalculated my IRS forms from 2004-2013 and I owed the IRS $980.00 He mentioned Chapter 13, 37 C from the IRS and that if I did not take care of this bill immediately, the cost would go up to $24,000.00. When I asked to speak to his supervisor, I was given to another representative whose English was worse and had a thicker, what seemed to be an India accent, did not give his name. He got upset when I asked him if he worked with the IRS and that I do not accept any conversations about my IRS transactions over the phone or with something in writing. He got angry with me and I hung up. I called the ScamPulse.com and was given the number to the Treasure inspector General for tax administration and the Federal Trade Commission of which I have called both to report this incident.

- Phoenix, AZ, USA

I received a recorded phone call on Saturday morning Dec 12, 2015 from Jordan, NY instructing me to call 315-277-2561 in response to an IRS judgment against me. I called and was connected to a man that stated his name as John Matthew, Investigative Chief, IRS Washington, D.C." He knew my name. He threatened me with being taken to jail in handcuffs by local police in 45-minutes if I did not resolve what he said was a$3,900 outstanding amount due to "miscalculation of taxes" from a prior year that his accent made it impossible for me to understand. He asked if I had ever declared bankruptcy, or had outstanding convictions. He did not ask for personal information. I told him I had never received anything from the IRS by mail or phone before and thought he was making up everything he said. He said I should not talk to him that way. I told him "You're making this up, pal, have a nice day" and hung up. Afterwards, I also filled out an on-line report on the Treasury Department scam website.

Received a automated call from 301-246-0982 stating this is the IRS and lawsuit has been filed to call this number back. The caller ID displayed Skype as the incoming caller. I knew this was a scam so when I called back to the number I asked who they were looking for they gave me a name. Was not mine. I asked them to never call again. This is the third call I've received from them.

- Lynnwood, WA, USA

When I answered the phone there was a recording stating that I should stay on the line for a representative from the IRS. My caller ID read "Aberdeen, WA 360-637-4984" A man with a thick foreign accent came on the line and said that the IRS had filed legal charges against my husband and I and there was a warrant out for our arrest if we did not pay $5,986.00. He said Leo Hernandez from our local Sherriff's Office was coming to arrest us in one hour if we did not pay. The man told me his name was Roy Jacob and that his IRS badge number was IRM5544. He had my social security number and my husband's social security number which was the most disturbing part of the call. He also said that they would "hijack" our bank accounts to satisfy the debt.
