I received a letter and a check in the mail from someone representing irewardshopper.com (Cecil Swiney [email protected] 725-600-5104) on August 18. The letter included instructions for conducting a mystery shopping experience and a check for $2,390.73. I was initially skeptical because I had not received any prior communication from this company (although I had registered to be a mystery shopper through a legit site months ago). I looked up the company on the internet and found their website, which had a ScamPulse.com and other marketing associations. The letter asked to confirm receipt to the e-mail provided, so I reached out via e-mail to inform that I had received the provisional assignment and check. No response. As this was a request to complete soon, and the instructions indicated to cash or deposit the check (which would clear in 24 hours per the letter), I moved forward. My bank would not cash the check, but deposited with a 7 business day hold (thru 8/30/21). I sent another e-mail to update and indicate I would complete the assignment once the check cleared my bank. No response. Yesterday I called the phone number provided (generic voicemail message) and left a message. No response yet. Yesterday, my bank returned the check and charged me a $15 fee. I sent another e-mail indicating I would have to report them as frauds. I went back to the website and followed the ScamPulse.com link, which took me to a mystery shopping research company, but not irewardshopper, so it makes me think they are using ScamPulse.com links for legit companies. Thankfully, I'm only out $15 and that my bank looks out for me by placing holds like this or I could have been out a lot more. +
