Internal Revenue Service(IRS) Reports & Reviews (271)

Person with Asian accent saying he represented the Internal Revenue Service. When I said I knew this is an illegal scam call, he used vulgar language telling me I could ***. I hung up.

The phone number on my caller ID is:

509-233-4153

- Anderson, IN, USA

I have received several phone calls from the above number. The person that answers the phone is foreign and asked me to verify the last 4 of my SSN. Said person also asked for my current address. I hung up. The person said they were Officer Sharon Starks of the IRS.

I've been receiving calls from the number listed above telling me that it's my final notice by the Internal Revenue Service. This man has been harassing me saying to drive to the sheriffs office so that they can arrest me. *** *** ** *** ** *** ***, not even American, and he was volitile.

I received a call from the "IRS" about money owed them at 5:44 pm on 6-2-16. It was an automated call and the line was unexpectedly disconnected. I knew the IRS doesn't call after 5:00 pm on a Friday, so the call was suspect. I tried to call them back but was unable to get a line. I called back on Monday, 6-6-16, and spoke with Officer Ronnie Williams #IRM9596 who wanted to know my full name. I put him on hold to check on my Mother and then hung up the phone.

I don't owe the IRS anything and the call was not from a toll free phone #.

On 5/24/16 I received a phone call letting me know that the IRS has a lawsuit against me and that I needed to call 541-656-8361 regarding the lawsuit against me. I DID NOT call the number. I hung up.

Yesterday while at my 91 year old mother's she got this same call regarding a lawsuit against her. She was worried sick and wanted to call to get the suit straightened out. I told her it was a scam and told her NOT to call the number nor give any information over the phone.

The man on the phone said he was a police officer from the federal government and I owed the IRS 1,300 dollars in back taxes and I had a warrant for my arrest. He was very forceful and rude and said if I did not pay I would go to jail and if I did not make arrangements to pay there would be an agent to arrest me within the hour! I said I would call the IRS on Monday because I never received a notice from them! My husband said who is that and I let him listen and he told them I was getting a lawyer and hung up! I am reporting this so no one else feels threatened or intimidate by them please let people now about these scammers! I have already had my credit card scammed and I am tired of people being taken advantage of!!!!!!!!

Left a message saying the Internal Revenue Service is filing a law suit against me and that I should call this number to get law suit case file information. When I called the number a few days later, it was disconnected.

Recieved a call from "Kevin Johnson" of the "IRS" in Kentucky reporting that I was to be sued by the Federal Government for a tax issue. I called the number (606-492-5788) and "Kevin" explained that I had discrepancies in my 2010-2015 tax returns. To play along, I gave him a fake name and address....which he miraculaously found "my" file. He reported to "make things right", all I had to do was send a check for $9800. If I didn't, agents would come to my home and revoke my driver's license and seize all my personal property.

"Mr. Johnson" , whose ID was DC3964, reported my case number was IRS7854.

Needless to say, after several minutes of playing with this fool, I finally hung up.

This message was left on the answering machine @ 1:16pm on Wednesday, May 18, 2016. "Hello. This call is officially a final notice from IRS - Internal Revenue Service. The reason of this call is to inform you that IRS is filing lawsuit against you. To get more information about this case file, please call immediately on our department number, 702-757-0817. I repeat: 707-757-0817. Thank you." Although this is a different message (first from the Department of the United States Treasury; second from the IRS, Internal Revenue Service) each with a different phone number, the "threat" stated was the same.

Caller said it was The Internal Revenue Service calling and they had been trying to reach me, to call them back ASAP at this number 1-646-558-6543

They contacted me by phone saying I was being sued by the IRS and they had a warrant out for my arrest and all of my bank accounts and property would be seized within 48 hours. The number they called me from was 573-305-2655. The number was from BirchTree, MO. They were all spoke with foreign accents. One of the guys told me their name ( John Williams ) and his IRS ID #: ( IRM908996 ). They also said I would be arrested by the end of the day. I knew it was a scam for several reasons. One, I have recently purchased a new truck. Two, I have also recently purchased a new camper. Three, I have never received any information by mail from the IRS. And I know that because I have been audited before and I had several letters send to me by mail. They said they sent me 3 letter but I had to be there to sign for it. I then asked them why didn't they leave me a message saying I had a certified letter that I had to sign for and they said I had to be their in person. Then I said exactly, I have to be their in person to sign for it. Then he just said well your going to be arrested within 48 hours and I hope you have fun in jail for the next five years..!!!!

There was a message left on my cell phone. Message said that I was going to get sued by the Internal Revenue Service to call them back. The call back number was the same as the number that called me. I called number and foreign man answers phone with "Internal Revenue Service, may I have your name please?"

First of all I know that the IRS NEVER calls anyone. They correspond with USPS.

Don't go for what they are saying!! Please don't send them money!!

I received a message from the above number stating that it was the IRS and I had a lawsuit filed against me. I called the number back and it was man with a heavy Indian accent. He said that he was from the Internal Revenue Service and I asked him to confirm that it was the federal government and he said "Yes, I am from the United States federal government" and more specifically, the "Internal Revenue Service". Obviously, I know better and began giving him a hard time. I that time he started getting agitated and stutter. I made fun of him and he started to use profanity...shortly afterwards he hung up.

They didn't state there name and the person spoke with a thick Middle Eastern accent.

- Newark, OH, USA

I keep getting a call from number 423014145000039 on my cell phone saying they are the IRS trying to collect before they put me in jail. IRS says they DO NOT ever make phone calls, they always send snail mail.

- Minneapolis, MN, USA

At 1:47 P.M., I received an automated call from phone number 1-321-248-4307, Claiming there was a possible tax fraud and that I was to call back. The first time I called, there was no answer, the second time was a busy signal, and the third time I got through, The gentleman spoke broken english, he wanted me to give him my name for a blockage which I didn't understand so I said to him I have no intention of giving my name, and he got very agitated and hung up. I called the ScamPulse.com in St. Paul and they confirmed that it was a scam, so I am reporting it to you on this date April 14th, 2016.

I received a phone call from 719-421-0040 about a lawsuit being filed against me by the IRS for the years 2001 to 2005. I have not worked since 2001, because I had a massive heart attack and filed for social security. I am 69 years old and retired. I do not owe any back taxes.
