A man named Richard Parker claiming to be an IRS agent called to say it was important I return his call. It was clearly an Indian call center. He had a heavy foreign accent. The number he left was 254 859 0444. Upon my own search I found this number for Eddy, Texas. I don't know if it's the same caller but I thought you should know.

- Prairieville, LA, USA

I received a message on my voice mail at our home saying that I owed money to the IRS and there was tax evasion and fraud, and me or my attorney should call immediately. The phone # I was to call was 1-201-351-9398. When I returned the call, it was from my office. They obviously check the # I was calling from. So, they asked which # I received the call, which I gave them. She could not tell me how much I owed, but said I would receive something in the mail. I hung up and called the same # back and got a fast busy signal. So, I call from my cell phone, and the same girl, not English, answered. She said could I hold, again. I asked her if she was checking my phone #. She said yes. I said this is a fraud and I don't owe any money. She hung up. The # she called from was # 011-201-3519.

Threaten that they are the Internal Revenue Service and that they filed a law suit again me. They left a message on my answering machine.

- Memphis, TN, USA

Called and left message claiming I owed the IRS money and they were filing a lawsuit against me.

left a phone message saying they were the IRS and were filing a lawsuit against "you" (where you'd think they'd at least use your name) and said to call 202-864-1122 immediately. Left two messages today.

Received a call yesterday, 10/26/15, at 8:58 a.m., from number +20 2 361 0435, showing Egypt, recorded message advising the IRS was filing a lawsuit against me and to hold the line. I hung up. The same day, at 1:52 p.m., another call came from number 202 361 0435, showing Washington, DC (same numbers, just different arrangement of numbers). I did not answer this call. I am keeping the numbers in my recent phone records on my cell phone.

I received a voicemail message from someone claiming to be with the IRS. The caller did not identify themselves by name or case number, only said that it was officially a final notice that the IRS was filing a lawsuit against me (without indicating that they even knew what my name was; the message was addressed to "you"). They said to get more information about this case file (which number was not given) I should call them back immediately on their department number at 202-299-6560. This was indeed the phone number that showed up on the caller ID with "Unknown Name." I am positive that i do not owe any money to the IRS, as i have been unemployed for many years.

My daughter received a call on her cell phone from someone saying a lawsuit was filed against her by the IRS. They left a phone number to call them at (916-827-8776). I called this number twice. The first call ended right after I told them I was calling regarding a message left about a lawsuit by the IRS. The second call to the same number lasted longer. The representative asked what I was calling about and asked for my daughter's name and phone number. I asked the person if they were really from the IRS since I was calling a California number. He said he was a representative for the IRS in Washington. I asked if that was Washington DC or Washington state. He indicated it was Washington state. When I told him my daughter had not lived in Washington state, he hung up on me. I have not tried the number again. We may still have the voice message that was left on her phone.

Had voicemail on answering machine to call ###-###-#### because the IRS had filed a lawsuit against me and my husband due to miscalculations on our taxes. I called and a man with a very definite Hispanic accent called himself Brian S*** with an identification number of HRN961502. He said our case number of CP1928 and it referred to taxes from 2008-2013 with misculations resulting in a $3,986.00 error. Since we had not responded to two certified letters that were mailed in March and just three days ago, the case had been handed over to the Federal Government IRS office in Washington, DC. Short of appearing in person, the only way I could wipe 'the slate clean' was by sending payment by end of day. This would also free up the papers so I could find out what we had done wrong in Section 101. He asked if I wanted to do that. I said yes, and he referred me to another man with a Hispanic accent who was the agent that would direct me in making payment. He asked my birthdate, and I stupidly said ***, even as I was telling him I was sure this was a scam call. Since I was having trouble understanding him, I asked If I could talk to someone who had an American accent like me. He said he was connecting me with his supervisor, who also had a Hispanic accent, albeit less of one than the other two. This third 'representative' asked if we got a lot of scam calls and I said we got a few. He asked how I knew they were scams, and I said I researched them and found out. I asked how I could make payment and he, in turn, asked if I had a Walmart close by. I questioned why, and he said I would have to send a money order. I told him that was ridiculous, this was a scam, and he hung up on me.

My wife and I keep getting phone calls from someone purporting to be from the IRS. They keep stating that we are being sued by the Internal Revenue Service and that I should be making an emergency call back to them at 206-317-1753 to resolve our IRS problem. We believe it is nothing more than a fraudulent call and do not return the calls. The calls show up on our caller ID as coming from Chicago IL from phone number 773-312-4065.
