Tech Security for "Trojan Horse" virus to home network system.

I was deceived and manipulated by the company named IDT Info Solutions LLC. They impersonated other reputable companies like HP and Microsoft so that I would accept their services. Unknowingly, I trusted in who I thought was HP and Microsoft, and allowed access to my computer, wifi, and printer. In hindsight, I feel violated and upset that I fell for a Tech Scam. This letter is to explain my experience.

On Friday, January 26, 2018, I was having difficulties installing my brand new HP Printer. I went online to the HP website to download the installation software, it was then that I received an invitation for Chat Help. The man I chatted with used the name Edward Bennett, and he made himself appear like an HP Live Support employee, but this was not true, he impersonated HP by offering support to install my printer (this is something that I would have been able to do without their interference). Edward Bennett told me that my computer had infected files, but that he could have a technician from Microsoft call me for further help. A moment later I was contacted by William Johnson who claims to work for Microsoft, and he offered me various protection packages, but convinced me I needed to buy a lifetime computer support from Microsoft for $850.00 (In hindsight, this amount is ridiculous). This “Microsoft” rep proceeded to download things onto my laptop, and scanned my personal files via a remote connection, after requiring me to provide my WiFi information.

After reviewing the suspicious so-called ‘receipt’ that I was provided I was extremely surprised that I could not find the Microsoft logo or contact information. Instead I was horrified to see the name IDT Info Solutions LLC – This business name had not been previously mentioned at all.

In the days following this interaction my computer seemed to have a mind of its own. I could see it log in, open web pages, and other extremely scary things as if it was being controlled remotely; my computer had NEVER behaved like this in the past. This is what triggered my extreme disgust, and I began researching the business IDT Info Solutions LLC., and what I found was countless stories similar to mine where people had been scammed of their money, and their hardware and bank accounts compromised. It was then that I knew I did not feel comfortable with anything this company touched or installed. As a result I had to take extreme measures to undo the damage, starting with taking my computer to have it reprogrammed, returned/exchanged my printer, cancelled/returned my wifi router, canceled my bank accounts, changed all my passwords, and I am still terrified to go online. I never intended to share my personal files with a scam/fishing site. I feel that my computer’s safety has been compromised and I am still afraid to use it.

To IDT Info Solution I say this: I do not want any business/contact from IDT Info Solutions LLC. You have NOT earned my business, and I do NOT wish to be contacted by you; any further contact from IDT Info Solutions LLC. will be taken as harassment. I removed any software you installed, and I am NOT your customer, I will not send you money. Please destroy any information you gained from me as it was gained unlawfully/dishonestly. Please stop calling me, do NOT contact me in any way.

I found a customer service number online for Amazon and called to talk about my order. While I was talking to them, someone broke in and said that my computer was being hacked and they gave me a number and IDT Info Solutions to call. I ended up giving them access to my computer and I could see them working on it and putting things on my computer. I am supposed to write a check and UPS will pick it up at 11:00 am today. I don't need to put any company name on the check for $350. My daughter told me it was a scam. I called the ScamPulse.com and they said it was a scam and to have my computer checked by Best Buy, where I had purchased it.
