I'm 63 years old on Social Security Disability and on 1/6/2025 was to call the Arizona Department of Economic Security DES at 1-855-777-8590 and by mistake I dialed the last 4 digits wrong (dialed 1-855-777-5890) which surprisingly happens to be HOME MD's number in Florida. The agent on the phone by the name of Jen (a man) told me that I have been selected to receive $100 in shopping coupon and if I like that. So at first I thought maybe this is a government program by DES and they are trying to help out. So I said Yes. Then he said I only have to pay $4.95 to receive the coupon so I gave him my Debit card information. Then he started to read a long statement real fast which I didn't understand any of it. I told him to hold-off and asked him if the were the Department of Economic Security DES? He said yes, then I had a bad feeling so I told him that I did not want the coupon and for him not to charge the $4.95 to my card. That's when he started to keep reading again and again I told him that I did not want the promotion and for him not to charge my card and he hung up. The charge showed on my bank statement and since it was my own fault in giving him my information, I figured it was just $4.95 cents and after all I was the one who fell into his trap. Until today 1/11/2025 which I received an ALERT from chase bank's FRAUD Dept. that HOME MD is trying to charge my account for another $38.97 dollars which right away I requested to close the card. I am probably very lucky to find this out before they empty my bank account. but these fraudulent companies choose phone numbers that are off just by one digit and know for fact that people will make a mistake and contact them. And, they are sitting there like vultures to take advantage of this and steal money from vulnerable people. I have heard many retired people loose their savings like that. I already have called all the retired people I know and told them to be very carefull and make sure they have the right information and NOT to give sensitive information over the phone. PLEASE STOP THEM IF YOU CAN. Thank you
