I recently purchased a home, and since then, have gotten several ads for home warranties. They are quite misleading, with letters looking like official government mail, often with language urging the recipient to call within 4-5 days. I called one and said I wasn't interested and to please not contact me again, which the person refused to do. After repeatedly saying I wasn't interested, he kept trying to sell me the home warranty. He also said he was not able to take me off the mailing list because that was the mailing department. I asked if he could transfer me there, and he said no. I feel like this is a violation of my boundaries when I repeatedly said I wasn't interested - If he had tried to change my mind once and then taken me off the contact list, that would have been fine but that is not what happened. He point blank refused to take me off the contact list, saying that he could not do it and could not transfer me to someone who could. I have a picture of the original letter I was sent. The number I called was 1-800-617-1761. I feel like these things should be stopped so that new homeowners don't get scammed into buying warranties they don't need.
