Purported contractors "saw" an issue with a chimney while working a few blocks away. Initially gave an estimate of $1000 and then indicated whole chimney needed to be replaced at cost of $40,000 (without ever entering the premises and demanded $4500 cash "for materials". No more than $200 worth of materials ("Special bricks which were in reality basic Home Depot 80 cent bricks and 4 $7.00 bags of mortar) were delivered before they attempted to get an additional $6500 for "Special" materials "already bought and use verbal strong- arming to gain compliance.

Address given on their website (1294 Geraldine Lane, Elmsford NY 10523) does not exist. Telephone number given 917-498-4766 does not accept incoming calls. They have said they are based in various places in different conversations (the Bronx, Brooklyn, etc)). No such corporation exists according to the NYS Division of Corporations, they do not have a NYC Contractors license as per , and refused to produce insurance certificates. Vehicle that they are driving LBS 9392 is not for the vehicle the drive and is registered to a license plate for a landscaping company in Buffalo.

Robert Gracin falsely claimed he is a licensed and insured electrician. He took a $1,000 cash deposit, then would not produce credentials or complete permit requirements. He took my money and never returned to do promised work

Approached home about estimate about roof repair and handed me a flyer. Needed some repair on missing roof ridge shingles they said we needed more repair than that. because there were more broken shingles and some rotten plywood. We were also needing other work so we continued to show them and requested an estimate. When they left we were able to see from the window above that section that they actually damaged some more shingles

We called them and they said they were sorry, that they just touched them and they broke. Said nothing at the time. Said they would come back and make the repair at noon the folloing day because they value their feedback. Did not show up. Said they would come the following day. No show.

Called numerous times, no longer answer.

Further efforts revealed that there is no such address just a website with the same information and what seems like bogus reviews. The only thing that actually works is the phne number 914-531-4552

I contracted the company to repair my washing machine and after coming out to assess and taking payment they never returned to do the repair and repeatedly ignored my calls and made false promises to come and do the work.

Vincent Hope stole $12,500 dollars for a roof that he did not provide. After he had a falling out with his business partner, he asked if I wanted my money bank. I said yes, he wrote a check from Tudor Real Estate and then stopped payment on the check. I would like my money back and would like Vince to be arrested for fraud!

Truck with asphalt equipment said they were finishing a job and said they would give me a discount to resurface drive way. Asked how many gallons it might take and they said 1 or 2 at $50 a gallon. I figured that most resurfacing is about that price and so I said okay. Then when the job was done, he said it was 17 gallons. I said no way and he said for $400 cash we would call it square because I was helping him out.

The whole exchange felt weird so I googled his name and found similar scams under similar names. Also on the card he gave me, "ashphalt" was misspelled upon further review.

- Alexandria, VA, USA

Myles Doran with Town & City Home Improvements stopped at my home after seeing my driveway was done with pavers. He asked if I would like the driveway and patio power washed, lay killen dry sand and seal entire driveway and patio. I agreed. He then talked me into ripping up my driveway and lay in 45% herringbone with new sand below, power wash, ,and compact using existing pavers. He power washed the patio but never did the driveway. The power washing and re-sanding jobs were horrible, and he never sealed the driveway or patio. I called Myles on 9/15/2022 (571-470-3953) and asked if the job would be completed and he said he would be back that weekend to finish it. I called the company on 11/7/2022 (571-436-8789) and they said they would finish the job. I have not heard back from them since. My mistake was having Myles talk me into paying him in full on 9/14/2022. I can no longer access their website (www.townandcityhomeimprovements.com) and am not sure if the email is legitimate ([email protected]).

- Bronx, NY, USA

Bronner was paid in advance to build steps for a deck and buy materials for the work. He subsequently decided not to do the work and has refused to refund the $600, despite making a number of written promises (via text) to do so.

Unsolicited person came to the house and said he was a contractor. Stated roof work was needed. Harassed a senior to sign a contract which was then changed from 10k to 45k. Called the person that had the initial money and was hostile towards them about payment, wanted money wired. Failed to provide receipts, cost breakdown and contractor license when asked. Created a “emergency” situation by ripping the roof off when asked about a permit that is required for structural work. Business information unable to be located and verified via Google and Better Business Bureau.
