A person calling himself Tom Grant (maybe false name), came to the farm, and said that he had a couple of loads of asphalt I could have for $3.25 per square foot. I would not have to pay for equipment or labour, and they could do it right away. They did come within a few hours with their equipment. But it was recycled asphalt - not pure asphalt. They wanted to be paid right away with cash. They apparently measured it and the cost was $34,000. I did not have cash, and gave them a check. They said they would come seal it the next week. Upon not showing up, I measured the area that was laid with the recycled asphalt. It ended up being less than half of what was done. I did call the number that I had, and was given different stories - that I was confused, and that I did not understand. I was told that it should have been $7.50 per square foot, because they applied two layers. There was always an excuse to stop any dialogue - he was busy - would call me back - had a toothache - was on the toilet - etc.. They ended up by blocking my phone number, so that I could not communicate any more. I have called the police, but they said that this is a civil case, and would not lay any charges. I found out about a week after my incident, that two other places in the neighbourhood were also done under similar circumstances the same day. However the names the used were different. To date I have not heard from since my telephone number was blocked.
