I was in between jobs when on January 3rd 2020 I made the mistake of answering my phone. It was Mike from Home Advisor. He said he needed housekeepers in Coos Bay Oregon. The 6th he called back and helped me set up a name for a house cleaning business. He said that I would have to give a bank card number for $300.00 in which they would take a certain amount per size of the house that I would be cleaning. He said the money could sit in the bank until I took a lead and started cleaning houses. He said if you want to work you have to jump on the leads before someone else takes it. We agreed the jobs would be 10 miles from Coos Bay where I live. I started getting leads in Bandon, Coquille, Myrtle Point, Grants Pass none of which were within the 10 miles we agreed upon. Some leads through for Coos Bay but every time I called a number in Coos Bay, I never recieved a call back which means the I had no work. The 18th of January I recieved a call for a live-in Position for a 24 x 7 hour caregiver position that was from a friend and not from Home Advisor. So, I left Coos Bay Oregon. Near the end of January my bank texted me about someone trying to take money from my card that I gave Home Advisor the number for. I called the bank and had to cancel my card.They had taken the $300.00 from my bank without me recieving a job through them. Then I started getting calls from Home Advisor saying that I owe them money. I called Mike several times and told him to stop sending me leads as I currently do not live in Coos Bay Oregon. I have had never worked for Home Advisor. My husband and daughter called and told them to stop harassing me. February 29th, I recieved a call from Home Advisor from my answering machine saying that if I did not pay $650.00 they would take me to collections. I want this harassment to stop now. I should not be threatened that I have to pay money to someone that I did not work for. This is a scam using fear tactics of hurting my credit. I would appreciate it if you looked more into this company because they are probably doing it to other people. They also shared my information with Angie's list and they contacted me as well about cleaning and I never contacted Angie's List ti give them my information. when I looked into it, I found out that Angie's List is the Parent Company to Home Advisor.

Home advisor contacted me to tell me about this great deal for under $300 for a membership for one year to promote my website for my business. I thought this was actually a good deal. Soon afterwards, I started receiving calls for flooring repairs. Then I was charged for a lead.

I called them back and they said they couldn't credit my money back, but could apply it to next years membership. They auto debited this straight from the account I used for my membership, but I gave no authorization for this. They said I gave this authorization when I signed up for them. I fought tooth and nail until they put me on a do not call or permanent lead shut off. By the way, their app only allows you to shut this off for a two week period. If they decide to send you leads, they will charge you, and these are sent without your permission. Then later, I found they had me advertised on their own home advisor site with my home address for the first three months. They wouldn't give me a refund and said my membership was non refundable. Today, I googled my business, and I came up nowhere. How is this legal for them to do this? Yet everytime I call them, I get a supervisor who eventually hangs up and doesn't call me back. Please Help.

Ive gotten multiple calls (10+) from different numbers claiming the company name "Home Advisor". When I let them know Im not a home owner they get very rude and usually hang up. Ive tried to ask for a supervisor and get hung up on.

I stopped answering calls from those known numbers and when I call them back its a random person who says theyve never tried to call me. They said theyve gotten calls from my number and said I was selling something.
