H & L Asphalt stopped by with a dump trailer of pea gravel and asked my dad (91 years old) if he would like them to put it down on his driveway. He agreed but wasn’t told a price prior, cost for product and labor should not have exceeded $500. They put the gravel down and told him it was $1800 and he had to have them write the check to pay for it. He told them it was too much and they argued with him, but they had the check and went to the bank immediately and cashed it
