I was invited to an interview with Highmark by a Theresa Flowers through Upwork. She invited me to interview through Google Hangout. I contacted her and she asked me my email address to forward a "job briefing" to me and then conducted an interview with me for what I thought was data entry work at home with this company. she asked the usual interview questions, told me about the company, what the duties would be, and then asked for my ID to proceed with the next step in the interview process. I provided my ID. Then I was told that I was hired but had to purchase a $50 "Steem Wallet Gift Card" or itunes card because that would activate the time tracker if I was hired. I purchased a $50 itunes card then gave her the number. She immediately informed me the card was invalid. I had just purchased it so I knew it would be working. I said I would call itune support to find out. In the mean time she told me that it's probably because someone scammed it and I should return to the store to complain and get another card to proceed with interview. I said I couldn't afford it. She then asked if I had a credit card. I said no, she then asked what my bank info was. I replied that I wasn't comfortable giving that out. I asked if we could proceed without the card for now, she replied it would violate policy unless I have at least a $25 itunes card. She then informed me my chance of getting the job was now low because the company was looking for dedicated freelancers who would create an idea during emergency and that they would need to check my credit score since I don't have a credit card. I finished speaking with apple who informed me to make a police report because 30 minutes after I purchased the card, it was redeemed (which was the same time she was trying validate it). I informed her I was making a police report and she said that it was bull[censored] that I didn't call apple. I then informed her that I believe I was scammed and she asked what proof did I have. I didn't respond.

I should have known better, I know that you NEVER have to give any money up front to get a job, but I didn't think itunes would also be a part of it. So If you have to spend or send money to get a job - it's a scam!
