My father was recently involved in a scam and lost close to half a million dollars. That is not the incident that we are reporting today. The new incident is somebody pretending to be a law firm claiming to be able to get his lost funds back. They texted him claiming to have gotten his number from the Social Security department. They claim to have the lost money frozen and on Monday, once he provides them with banking information, the funds will be unfrozen and return to him. They say that they will not take any payment until the funds are received by my father, and at that point they want 15% of the “recovered funds“.
