Landlord Scam

"Edbert Dana" is the name this person is going by now. Just like previous complaints I had the same thing! Responded to a rental in Enumclaw with the price to good to be true, and It was. After sending semi sensitive info ( no Ss or money) I had a gut feeling to look into this person. In the meantime he was running my name ( thank you credit karma and experian for letting me know) and sent me a lease agreement with a Wisconsin address. How can we get this SOB?

Scammer claimed to be the Landlord of a rental property, faking the legitimate resident of the property. email correspondence occurred where some information was sent to scammer in the form of a rental application and rental agreement. After finally speaking to the scammer on the phone, we came to the conclusion that this was not the person that owned the property and said property was never on the market for renting.

Thank you all so much, this post prevented me from getting scammed. They're impersonating the real property owner. Email is [email protected] & [email protected]. Already sent semi-sensitive info but no money, thank goodness. Hopefully this person gets arrested.

I also responded to a Craigslist ad for a house for rent in Bellingham, WA, that seemed a bit too good to be true (priced below market rate), so I was already a bit suspicious. All the images were from the Redfin real estate listing from a couple years ago. They replied asking for more info from the email "[email protected]" and phone number "(920)-413-2856", so I Googled the email address and found this post!

I’m talking to this person right now pretending to be a landlord in Vancouver, WA. Deal felt too good to be true, once they texted me I immediately searched the number and this popped up. They even had the correct name of the property owners that matched the county tax assessors publicly available documents. Already sent some semi sensitive information but catching it early enough to take precautions against identify theft and social engineering. Thank you for posting!

Thank you K Reilly. Your post saved me from sending an application to this same fraudster phone number for a craigslist rental scam in Brentwood CA at 771 Centennial Dr. Did the same thing impersonating an owner and using her correct name in emails. The phone number Googled right to your alert. The price was too good to be true on that rental. I hope someone arrests this person. He is collecting applications with all personal information, accounts, driver's licenses etc to steal identities. J J
