Phone call received from a number (762)465-5054 with a location of Maxeys, GA. The caller maintained they were a debt collector and that I had outstanding debt from a dentist office that I did recognize and had used. Caller offered me a settlement amount (half of what I was told I owed) so I submitted payment and received a confirmation email - although it came from pandadoc.net - not from a legit organization or business . Furthermore, the letterhead did not match the name of the company the caller represented. Also, the logo does not match the logo listed on the companies website nor do the phone numbers that are listed on the confirmation letter. I immediately received a notification from my credit card that asked me to confirm that I recognized the creditor (which is not something I normally get from my credit card). So, I called the dentist office to confirm they had turned me over to a debt collector and they informed me, "No" and that my account was paid in full back on Feb 1, 2021. However, each time I reach back out to the number that called me (I even am able to speak with the same person), she insists that she must transfer my info to the case manager and they will call me back - which they never do. Even the dental office they claim sold my account to them has tried to contact them and they responded that I would not be receiving a refund - even though I have court documentation to prove that account was paid four years ago. I am not having any luck getting my money back and I don't know what to do - I don't know if I have been scammed or if this is a legit collector. Can you help me?
