My husband bought a Tshirt from the online company Free Spirited Co. On their home page they have a button that says "shop now to join" Apparently when you click this button you are automatically signed up for a recurring monthly charge of $26.82 on whatever form of payment you use to buy the clothes. On our credit card statement it identified the type of charge as "professional services". After a lot of digging we were able to determine that when he bought the shirt for $18.90 he was "enrolled" in a "21 day free membership trial" after the 21 days we were charged $26.82 for 3 months before we were able to figure out what it was. The information about the "Free Spirited Insiders" membership program is found at the very bottom of the webpage in small print. You can only find it if you are searching for it. It is clearly a scam designed to get people to do what my husband did, unwittingly sign up for a recurring charge for something you don't want and then they make it difficult to disconnect, and they state they do not give refunds. We are disputing the charge with our cc company but it makes me ill that they are tricking people like this.
