I called 7 different phone numbers for listed houses. ALL DISCONNECTED! What is the point if you can't get through?

This is a housing rental fraud website. They are taking listings from Zillow and Trulia and posting them on forleasebyowner.com for a little cheaper. You can contact the "owner" via email and phone number on website and then they reply with a text. Some will reply with a fake email. They want you to fill out a rental application requesting personal information seeming like a background check- do not do this. They will also ask for a $65 application fee, security deposit, and make it seem like you need to send it immediately. I sent it via PayPal, and now I cannot recover my transaction even though I have a record of it.

Never showed up to view house and house was locked when we showed up. Never gave me a name. Asked for sensitive information. Wanted to use an app to pay. Never answered phone. Always made excuses that didn't make sense to not meet up. Out of state phone number. Wanted payment before giving the keys.

All the properties I called are associated with a Google voice number- 1st red flag. The second thing, I actually Googled the property before going to view the property, the property was a different house from what I viewed on Forleasebyowner.com. I seen a completely different house on four other legit websites like Zillow and some others. Zillow and the other legit websites all had the same house same address, but the house differed on the scam website.-2nd red flag. The third thing, I tried calling the “renter”, and the “renter” would not pick up the phone claiming he/ she had lots of client calls to fulfill-3red red flag. I texted the “renter” about the different properties, and he/she began questioning me about trust issues-4th red flag. After that, the “renter” began telling me that I need to put the application in first before viewing the property and obtaining the lock code-5th red flag. I knew better then that because I currently rent from a private owner. Back story, I was looking for private owners. Anyways… all of these red flags brought me to the conclusion that this is most definitely a BUG FAT SCAM! I NEVER gave any info accept an email address, and they have my phone number… that’s about it!… With all the scams I have encountered, and fell victim to on FB/Instagram/Jobs/ etc. I think I’m an expert now at knowing what to look for and signs of a scammer/ hacker. They kinda make it obvious now within minutes of interaction. So y’all… JUST BEWARE of at least some of the signs I noted which are pretty typical of a scammer/hacker. One major thing is…
******THEY ALWAYS WANT YOUR PERSONAL INFO******
I have added below, a picture as to what I am referring to. The fake vs. the real
The “renter” actually tried to explain that some houses can be different and have the same address!???… like WAAAAT?!
You seriously ? think ? I’m going for that. That’s one of the most ridiculous things I’ve heard in my whole life. Smh ??‍♀️ Another big thing I forgot to mention is, when I Googled the house ? on the legit sites, the monthly rental price was obviously different-6th red flag. So yea… once again, with everything I have noted, I have most definitely came to the conclusive decision, that this site (Forleasebyowner.com) is MOST DEFINITELY a SCAM site.

Here is the last part of the conversation, you see I was going along with the scammer’s game in the previous conversation.

These are some more of the conversation.

This is the wired back and fourth conversation between the “renter” and I in regards to the first property. I never went, instead, I tried to have someone else to go view the property simply because the vibe didn’t feel right and my “spidy senses” were tingling… lol ?… nah.. the whole vibe just didn’t feel right. I felt that this person could have been a kidnapper or anything, so I attempted to send a man to view the property, however, the man I attempted to send to view the property didn’t show up, but that’s ok… It really didn’t matter anyways… I had a feeling it was all a scam anyways. I’m good, and I know where the GPS would have taken me, so I’m at ease with my decision on not going, and the other person not showing up. I have provided below some images of my back and fourth conversation with the scammer. I’m not sure if the images are in order or not, so my apologies in advance if there not. Feel free to check them out. I basically went along with the scammer’s game briefly.

My realtor is getting tons of phone calls asking to rent my house for 900$ a month at 160 Nandina way pooler GA. I am the owner **** ***** and my house is being sold. It is currently contingent and I am closing in less than a month. I need this website removed

This site is a scam the Nigerian guy is trying to get you to send him money for a fake application $70 per adult wow… and then he wants the deposit immediately without properly meeting or even showing a contract he pretends he has a lawyer helping him when it's one-person pretending to be multiple people

people be careful of this scammer anyone can get the lock codes to key box of show houses and let you view the homes inside I ended up calling the cops and different realtors to report the phone numbers site and addresses this guy was trying his hardest to get my money was not going to work with me the conversation got intense as I kept telling him I was not going to send him money until we met

while searching for a house rental - this website lists for lease by owner - and this scammer lists homes that supposedly is renting. I called last night and there was no answer - nor a answering system.

They communicate by text message and then will send the rental questionnaire to see if you qualify by requesting your email account via txt and then they send the list of questions. They do request a copy of your Driver License.

Once I requested to speak to a live person - the phone was then disconnected and no other communication was exchanged.

This entire site seems to be scams. Every single home I was interested in has an out of state number and it does not list a name for the owner it just says "contact the landlord/owner". Also when I google each address it listed by a company for much more than the listed monthly price. The whole site just needs to be removed.

I went on a website called "Forleasebyowner" where the "owner" placed his name, and number. I reached out to him and asked if i could see the house. He told me to call him when I got to the house , so i did. When i arrived, he proceeded to send me a link, so i was able to self tour. The link was a "rently" link, which is a legitimate , secure website. I was able to access the house, open the lockbox, and tour. The link reflected the website associated with the "For rent" sign, so i believed it was legitimate. After touring i returned the key and he said he would send an application over. He said it would require a valid photo ID, the application fee would be $60, and he sent over his ID and a selfie. Everything seemed legitimate, so i sent over the application and the ID.

However, he started asking for the application fee through zelle. His zelle was "[email protected]", apparently this was his attorney's name. This was very odd to me that we would be proceeding through Zelle and that his name was also different. Before i sent anything i asked him for a selfie with his ID, which he refused. I proceeded to try to call him but he ignored my calls. I then researched the address of the house and found the website that was on the " For Rent" sign. I contacted the correct leasing agent, and they verified that he was not an authorized leasing agent.

This site is posting my home for rent at a low price. I assume they are trying to scam deposits. This morning someone I had not talked to stopped by to look at the home and gave a contact name that was not mine.
