I was trying to find a manual for my vintage sewing machine and clicked on a site that had the correct one, then a popup charged me one cent through apple pay. At first I thought it was a charge to download the manual but it redirected me to this foodie-hub site and congratulated me on my subscription. I immediately contacted apple to flag the charge and get a new apple card number, thank goodness I did because "foodie-hub.co" tried to charge me $29.90 a couple days later but apple declined it.

Also after the initial $.01 charge I received an email with details about my subscription and membership, and when I went to the site I got a security warning that it's a fake site trying to steal my personal information.

The pitch was from a professional looking QR code on a gas pump that purports to be a way to shave pennys off per gallon of gas. The url asks to validate a $.01 payment, but when it is OK’d no information or link about the product is given. An innocuous email is sent (how did they get that?) saying three days are free and then there is a $29.90 fee per month for this undescribed “mystery” food service. I didn’t notice the email until a charge from my bank popped up in a text message.
