I was approached via txt by a recruiter who found my resume on Indeed. I was requested to download the Signal messaging app to proceed with the interview. It was all done through messaging. No video or phone call. After 40 mins questionnaire and a 15 min wait period for approval from manager I was offered the position. I was told I would be sent the proper equipment to work from home (I am located in TX & he stated they are building a location in my area) and along with the equipment would be a w-4 and a check to purchase required accounting software for the laptop & provide proper vendors to use. I was told it was a test of trust with company funds. They asked for my address & the name of the bank I use to ensure direct deposit was compatible. I have removed my personal information from the offer letter attached. There were 2 grammar errors, one in the interview & 1 in the offer email. No direct contact phone number was provided. I have been requested to contact them again at 8:00 AM CST for a brief update on the check. I was also requested to send a selfie which I did.

Type of a scam Employment

Came to email as application for employment. I recieved priority mail with a check for $1,630. Instructed to withdraw stipend of $300 for next assignment and my pay would be the left over $1330.00. Basically it said to deposit check and send photo of deposit receipt & then to shop at Walmart spending no more than $25, send an text with information on experience and wait for next assignment instructions via "Walmart money center task".
