Attackers used fraudulent benelli firearms website (https://benellifirearmsamerica.com) to lure customers in with discounts for military members. Requested copy of military credentials with for the discount. Webpage looks very legit and attackers are using email to communicate with numerous spelling mistakes such as "rooting" number instead of routing number. Attackers also message outside of normal business hours and are quick to respond when it comes to them asking questions, but not the other way around. Attempts to wire money failed, which then prompted for zelle payment and receipt of payment via email of screenshot. Alleged representative named "Carl Lewis" Zelle number 504-390-4215, requested split payment of funds with a fraudulent shipping confirmation with "https://americapostalservice.com". Upon "arrival" of firearm to California, there was a "recent policy update" which required a $500 "refundable" insurance deposit, which was refunded "upon safe delivery of the firearm. The payment for that was too required under zelle under Kelondis Johnson Zelle payment number 785-220-5302. The transaction was denied numerous times and the scammer attempted to request money for "food" instead of the alleged insurance payment with no mention of the order number. After being called out, the scammer then tried to request again under the corrected order number. Moreover, when asked for a copy of the "recent updated policy", the scammers used "[email protected]" to send an email referring to article "604/025134/57 Order No. 561. US GOV". Additionally, the scammers tried to siphon $10,000 more USD stating "trying to process insurance papers for this parcel will cost you $10,000 with at least a month for the papers to be ready." The fake tracking number is WPC011340908479-CARGO.
