Someone called pretending to be from the Federal Trade Commission. They stated my identity had been compromised and that there were several Ebay, Amazon and Wal-Mart accounts in my name opened in Dallas Texas ( I live in Illinois). The scammer also said do not use public wi-fi because that is how information can be stolen. They asked about my previous addresses and if I had ever lost my social security card or license. i did not confirm my address, but acknowledged I was familiar with it. The call dropped. I called the FTC and asked if they called people. They said no. The person on the phone appears to be helpful in order to gain your trust.
