I received a phone call from an unknown number. The female on the other end of the call spoke broken English. She explained her name was *** *** from the federal grant dept. and that I was selected to receive a $9000 grant for being a good citizen. She explained that I was one of 1500 people nationally selected. I needed to confirm information and then call a number 202-797-0454 with a confirmation code and the would give me instructions on how to collect my grant. I would be able to receive with western union, credit card, or in my checking account. All I had to do for cash is go to Wal-Mart or Target and buy a $50 card and they would send $9050 via western union within 50 minutes. I spoke with a "supervisor" Mario Stevens. I knew it was a scam when they asked to pay and use money gram or western union at Wal-Mart or Target.
