He seemed to know all about my loan history. He called me from 844-316-6070. Said if I paid the one time interest for $398 then due to the Hero's Act which I qualified for . then my payments would be $0/ monthly as long as my income was under $59K. I am so frustrated! This should be so hard to navigate. If Mohela or the Federal Loan Servicing would answer the phone there wouldn't be room for the Scammers.

had a very similar experience to previous posts about Mark McDonald of Fedloan Servicing. I googled Myfedloan since I needed help with my account. the phone number +1 (877) 990-2761 was the first result on google underneath MyFedLoan, or some variation. Mark was very “helpful” claimed to be the manager. He would pretend to talk to someone else, and said that he realized I was eligible for the William Deford Act. With a one time payment of $398 my entire loan would be forgiven. A lot of other similarities were mentioned in previous posts. I gave a lot of information thinking he was helping me access an account that I personally haven’t tried to access in years, and has now been closed since my loan was transferred to nelnet.

I called the number on google for fed loan service and student and Mark answered as a manager supporting to help the influx of calls. He pulled up my information and requested that I pay $398 interest and my monthly bill will be $7. He stated his underwriter will held all paperwork and to take a hands off approach. He said Nelnet will update me.

I just found out I was scammed. I have been paying this person for at least 3 years. I don't know who to contact.

I Thought was calling Studentaid.gov, but must have called the wrong number by mistake. I had Siri lookup the num for me while driving. Somehow must have called a wrong num. A man answered, said his name was Mark McDonald, and said he was a manager taking overflow calls because of the high call volume. He said I was lucky I got him because he could reduce my monthly student loan payments from $240 to only $7. He said he would have the underwriter, Natasha, process the paperwork for me, which he said is 185 pages, and usually requires an attorney to assist. After a short period of time, he said I was approved, and just needed to pay the amount of $398 to cover the interest. I gave him my debit card info, and the charge quickly appeared. He said not to call my server, Mohela, or studentaid.gov, because that could screw up the deal. He also said I would get a contract, but he didn’t know if it would come via mail, or email. after a week, I received neither, called Mark McDonald, left a message, and he did not call back. I became suspicious, called my bank, reported the charge as Fraud, and filed complaints with Mohela, Studentaid.gov, and CFPB (Consumer Financial Protection Bureau).

Called Fedloan to make sure my IDR recert was completed when the forbearance is lifted in Sept 2021 and man named Mark Mcdonald told me I was eligible for the William D Ford Rescue act loan forgiveness program and I had to pay $199 that would go toward the interest of my payments and would look good on my application. I verified my SSN, DOB , address, credit card and very next day they took money. When I suspect fraud I called to ask questions and Mark changed his story to say I paid a fee to pay an underwrite to help me with a 120 page document that people pay lawyers hundreds of dollars. He was talking so fast and made me feel stupid questioning the legitimacy of this process and called me a NERVOUS NELLIE. He said calls get over flowed to his office when line's get busy and he was a manager of 1w years. I called my bank to dispute charge. Changed my passwords, changed my bank and debit card info. I called the official Fedloan and reported the abuse.
