Type of a scam Romance
Between December 2022 and March 2023, I took out loans as encouraged by Kylie Li from Bumble to buy USDT and invest it in Farm World (approximately US $125,000). Eventually, Farm World’s customer service told me my regular earnings period ended on April 3, 2023. At that time I requested to withdraw my funds, including earnings, worth approximately 350,000 USDT. Then, on April 7, 2023, customer service indicated I owed approximately $70,000 in taxes, and that they would release my funds only after I paid my taxes. I told them I didn’t have that much money and that I just wanted my original investment of $125,000 back. They still insisted I should pay taxes first and that they would charge a 3% late fee per day if I didn’t pay the taxes. I was going to borrow more money from friends until one of them told me I was being scammed.
I have learned since this is called a ‘pig butchering scam’ originating in China. I have not been able to tell where this organization is located, but documentary videos I found on YouTube seem to indicate some of theses crime syndicates may be located in Cambodia.
