FAKE SCAM for non-manufactured warranty on cars.

Received multiple letters about car warranty from True Auto. Called for information. The man requested the VIN number and mileage of my vehicle. He quoted an expensive price and when I declined he started pressuring me to answer other questions and I had to hang up to disengage. Never heard of True Auto and by the sounds of the price I was quoted it sounds like a scam operation!

Leased a new Mercedes SUV from local dealership and apparently the dealership and/or Mercedes USA sold our personal information to data brokers. Really really cruddy of them. We received a very official-looking "Final Notice" and "Our records indicate that you have not contacted us to have your vehicle service contract activated." The Mercedes lease terms cover service and warranty. This is a scam, purposefully misleading. We're of course irritated by the scammers, who should be stopped, but way more irritated by Mercedes for allowing this to happen. Boooooooo!!!

I received a piece of mail saying that it was from the Vehicle Services Division referring to a new car that I bought. I actually bought the car referred to inside. It says, “Our records indicate that you’ve not contacted us to have your vehicle service contract activated. We’re informing you that if your factory warranty has expired, you will be responsible for paying any repairs. Please call immediately as this will be our final attempt to notify you.” It also asks to respond by August 22, 2025. There are no other pieces of identifying information as to where this is coming from. This seems like a scam.

Got a letter from Tabitha Jones that looked like it was from Auid about a factory warranty expiring.

Called the number (1-888-307-2075) and spoke to a man calling himself "Jack Ante" who offered me an extended warranty through Evercare Protection for 100k miles and 5 years for an activation fee of $205.

He needed the activation fee right away without giving me any information (paperwork or website) about the extended warranty. They somehow know your name, address, and the make and model of your car. (The contents of the letter are below)

"Time Sensitive"

Just received a letter like this in regards to warranty, or power train, new car, rental and 24 towing assistance. No company letterhead, has a vehicle I do not own listed. Towards the bottom it states "PPG is an independent company who provides extended service protection plans on behalf of lending 3rd party administrators." My car is paid in full, so that is suspicious. Definitely a phishing scam. Do watch out

Scammer sent hysterical letter stating “our records indicate you HAVE NOT CONTACTED us to get your service contract up to date….EXTREMELY URGENT… FINAL ATTEMPT TO NOTIFY.” “You will be financially liable for all repairs” to my “2016 JEEP PATRIOT.”

I do not own a JEEP PATRIOT. No contact info given except a phone number.

This “notice” is clearly intended to target older adults whose memory may be impaired.
