I listed items on Facebook maket to sell. I received potential buyers interests. 2 of them sent their phone numbers on Facebook messenger. When I text to follow up with their interested items to both numbers, both wanted to send me verification codes from google voice. I text one number back with the code and my number automatically popped up on the text thread.

I looked it up and found an article that this is a new scam where your phone number will be used to set up a google Voice mail.

Once I looked it up I deleted my number on the text thread. Not sure if that helped.
