I found a seller on Facebook that had some miniature schnauzer puppies. I used Messenger on Facebook to text back and forth with her. She said she was in Charleston, SC. She was asking $600 for the puppy. She asked that I place my deposit of $300 as soon as possible so she could take the ad down from Facebook. I sent her the $300 via PayPal and we talked about me driving down on Wednesday, December 27th to pick up the puppy. I live in NC and it's about a four hour drive from here to Charleston. I needed to postpone the pickup for a day and she that was fine. Then she mentioned that she could arrange for the puppy to be delivered to me and would be $75. I thought that sounded like a good deal, so I told her to go ahead and set that up. It was supposed to happen on Friday, December 29.

This is when it gets a little confusing and expensive. She said the shipping company would be texting and calling me with the shipping information. I received a text first from the shipping company, Express Logisticx, with initial info which was incorrect to start with. It had the delivery address as someplace in England. I was getting ready to call them back and a man called me. Someone with a very thick Asian accent and was very difficult to understand. He said, sorry there was a mistake in the address and that was corrected with my current address. That's when the financial part started. First, he said I needed to pay a $600 fee for the crate rental, and I would get a refund upon delivery of the puppy. I was going to do this through PayPal, so he asked me to use the Friends and Family option, not the Goods and Services option. (The problem with that is under the Friends and Family option you have no protection for your purchase. So I went ahead and sent the payment, trusting that I would get a refund when she was delivered. Then he kept asking for more money. The next was for insurance on the delivery, which was for $1000. Which would be part of my refund. Then he called to say he was at the vet and now the puppy needed vaccinations and shots for the trip. I was very reluctant by this time, but I went out and bought two AMEX cards to send him $800 for the vet.

Then I received a text saying that it was getting too late to deliver so they would deliver her on Saturday by 11. So on Saturday morning he called and said I needed to pay a $1000 delay of delivery fee. I told him No. Point blank I wouldn't be sending any more money. I didn't answer his texts or phone calls. That was on Saturday. I kept trying to get in touch with the lady selling the puppy, but wasn't able to reach her by phone, only through Messenger. Haven't heard anything else from either one of them.
