I received a call, saying I was choosing to receive a free grant from America recovery act reinvestment act of 2009. After calling an finding the web site Eric instructed me that I would need a payment of 200.00 down. That’s when I hung up on them.

I got a text message from a guy named Eric telling me he wanted me to paint a house for him that he was going to move into. I sent him my email and then he sent me a long email about how he was relocating from Chicago to Joplin. It goes to a different font. He then sent me specifics for what he wants done. He told me all the rooms are 12 by 12 with 8 foot ceilings. He said he would pay half up front. I didn't reply because I knew it was a scam.

I posted my truck for sale on a local ad called KSL.com. I had this guy text message me telling me he was interested. He proposed a time but told me he needed a “MV Report” I asked if he meant a Carfax report? I gave him the vin and said if you want it you can pull it. He fired back and said I’m not the one that’s selling it. You’re supposed to have a Carfax for everyone that wants to look at it.
Again I replied are you talking about a Carfax report? He said I don’t care what you get as long as I have it by end of day. I only suggested the MV report because it was $20 as opposed to Carfax which is $50. So I paid Carfax and requested his email to send it to him. No response? I sent him a screenshot. No response? I asked if we were still planning on meeting tomorrow? He replied “I’ll let you know”
So I tried calling the number and went to some automated voice mail system.
This morning my brother-in-law asked me what number this guy was calling me from? When I gave it to him he responded that one of his employers is receiving the same exact messages from the same exact number. After comparing text messages it was all pretty much verbatim. Like this guy was coping and pasting every message. The whole conversation was Identical to this other guy that was selling his Honda Civic off the same website KSL.com. This scammer was trying to get us to click on this link for a “MV Report” to send him. Unfortunately his link was never sent to me. I just paid the $39 and used carfax.
I just now read your article about the scam going on with this. I just wanted to report this issue and hope nobody else falls victim to it. Here are some screen shots of our conversation.
