I was interviewed for a job - all via zoom text, which I thought was odd, but I didn't think much of it - and the interviewer came back after the interview and said I was hired, and training started immediately the next day. I did two writing training tasks for two days, then received a check after I was told the company was covering my expenses of my equipment. I was asked to buy gift cards, I bought a few, then the first check was rejected by my bank, I explained the same to this person, and they apparently had known the same, as the night before I received a FedEx notification for a package. When it arrived, it was a "legitimate" check and has now replenished what was in my bank account. This morning, I was asked to wire the rest of the money to a bank and certain beneficiary. That went on its ear, and I was asked to buy gift cards instead. I said no to the gift cards and said this is nothing but a scam and kept receiving responses of how the word scam hurt them and that they wanted to spend time with their husband and children and grandchildren. I asked them to prove to me the fact that it was legitimate and face to face zoom call, and was again turned down and told "due to the influx of clients, they were too busy to do a zoom meeting". I signed out and haven't responded since.
