My husband and I were on facebook marketplace browsing listings for rent. He got in touch with a person for the property at 1869 Pinnacle Club Dr, Grove City, OH for rent. We sent over a total of $5,280 to rent this place out, did a self tour of the home and everything. He had us send money through a Chime Account using "pay anyone" with the name "Jonathon Longoli" "Johnprinc3". Afrer the first payment, (first month rent $1340, last month rent $1340 and security deposit $1300) this person sent us a Lease with our names on it to sign and send back in an email belonging to "David Warder" dwarder80@gmail com. We then had to send an additional $1000 (keys $200, HOA fees $400, caution fee $300 and a trash fee $100). He says he was talking to his "attorney" and he came up with more fees, my husband proceeded to tell him, okay everything's good to go, you have your money, how do we get into the lock box to get our keys? He told us there was another $300 fee for insurance. So we sent that over. He told us to use my phone to download the open door app to get inside the property, i did and it told me right away the property was not for rent, it was for SALE to call them immediately if someone was trying to rent it. (The whole time this is happening, we have a trunk full of groceries to bring into our "new home".)So I did and they gave me an email to report my evidence and told me to contact law enforcement. I did that, spoke with a detective more than 3 times and gave them all the evidence I had. They told me to contact my bank, Chime, and try to see if they will work with me on getting my money back. They did not. They told me there's nothing they can do. So, I called the detective back, and he called me back the next day saying "this person is most likely from a different country, it will take ages to investigate it" so that means I am S*** out of luck with all of that money. I am devastated. I have 3 children. We don't have a home and are way in the hole being out all of that money. That was all we had and then some. I don't know what else to do. I will try to never get scammed like this again....
