Received phone call while on way home, was expecting call from tech support for work. I answered phone thinking it was tech support, they do not alway use same phone number. When I answered the person came on and indicated my electrical service would be cut off for being behind on payment. They indicated to "push 1", against my better judgement I did. I women picked up and asked if I was me, obviously she had my phone number and name. She indicated I was $88.00 past due and they have been trying to get ahold of me.

When I indicated they had not, and if I make a payment it would not be over the phone. She hung up.

I tried to call back the number, it went into voice mail. Did not understand who the individual was that left message, but it was not Duke Energy.

I did not lose any money, hopefully this was the end of it, do not want anyone else to fall for this. Could be they hacked the phone number and used someones number without them knowing.

Call was automated & said it was my power company & that my power would be disconnected in 30 to 45 minutes due to Non payment of my bill. Press 1 to pay, press 2 to talk to billing dept.

I pressed 1 & guy said hello- I asked what powers company this was & he said “Duke’s Energy’ I said my power co is not even Duke’s & that’s a mayonnaise- he hung up on me : )

I received the call at 1:39 pm. The call started with a recording stating that my service with Duke Energy is scheduled for interruption within 30 minutes due to an unpaid bill. I became concerned because I don't have service with Duke Energy. It prompted me to press '1' to speak with a representative, so I did. The person on the line stated that my services would be disconnected if I didn't pay. I asked what address was the service listed at. He stated an address that I am associated with but was not a resident. When I informed him that I did not live there he hung up.

Tuesday and last Thursday we received an automated telephone call that stated it was the Duke Energy billing department.

It went on to state that there was an unpaid balance on our account and to call (800) 737-4827 to pay or our power would be cut off in 30 minutes.

The telephone number that was captured by our caller ID was (980) 580-5094.

If you confront them or ask them questions on the phone they hang up.

AND (C) MY SISTER WHOM I LIVE WITH AND HER HUSBAND ALWAYS PAY THEIR BILLS BEFORE THEY'RE DUE AND THEY WOULDN'T HAVE PUT ME ON THEIR ACCT ANYWAYS BC IT WASN'T PLANNED FOR ME TO EVEN LIVE HERE!!! Phone call claiming to be Duke Energy and to inform me I was getting ready to have my power disconnected. After I gave the service address of my home, the caller said I had only 30 minutes to make a payment or my power would be shut off. He also claimed that a technician had already been dispatched and my time was running out.I believe it was a robo call that connected to a live person when I answered my cell phone.

the message stated, "Hello, this is Crystal calling to follow up about a notice on your Duke Utility account. Please call me back immediately with the recent statement by mail at 888-399-3275.

This is a scam to get information - I don't use Duke for energy and there is no bill.

Rec'd the same message yesterday from 856-284-0761-- same message.
