This call is to inform you that your power will get disconnected in 30 minutes due to a pending balance on the account. Please call the direct billing department number at 800-589-4603. To avoid power disconnection. Again the number is 800-589-4603. If you want to speak to a live agent press one thank you for choosing duke Energy. Goodbye.
When I indicated they had not, and if I make a payment it would not be over the phone. She hung up.
I tried to call back the number, it went into voice mail. Did not understand who the individual was that left message, but it was not Duke Energy.
I did not lose any money, hopefully this was the end of it, do not want anyone else to fall for this. Could be they hacked the phone number and used someones number without them knowing.

I pressed 1 & guy said hello- I asked what powers company this was & he said “Duke’s Energy’ I said my power co is not even Duke’s & that’s a mayonnaise- he hung up on me : )
It went on to state that there was an unpaid balance on our account and to call (800) 737-4827 to pay or our power would be cut off in 30 minutes.
The telephone number that was captured by our caller ID was (980) 580-5094.
If you confront them or ask them questions on the phone they hang up.
the message stated, "Hello, this is Crystal calling to follow up about a notice on your Duke Utility account. Please call me back immediately with the recent statement by mail at 888-399-3275.
This is a scam to get information - I don't use Duke for energy and there is no bill.
Rec'd the same message yesterday from 856-284-0761-- same message.
